It’s better for the environment too-don’t throw away perfectly good hardware just because the software stops working. In Jan 2003 I bought VueScan for my Epson Perfection 1200. With VueScan, you can still use all of these great attachments like the SF-200 Auto Slide Feeder, SF-210 35mm Slide Feeder, and more! And most of the parts don’t wear out as easily-you’ll save money in the long run! They’re cheaper and made of plastic, while the older Nikon scanners are substantial and made of metal. Let’s face it: newer scanners aren’t better than the Nikon scanner you have. The good news is, you don’t have to throw out your old hardware just because the software stops working. VueScan has a custom, reverse-engineered driver for Nikon scanners that enables them to work with newer operating systems like Windows 10, Windows 11, macOS and Linux. But Nikon’s scanner software doesn’t work on newer operating systems, it only works on Windows XP.īut there’s hope! If you want to keep using your Nikon scanner in 2022, there’s only one option you should consider: VueScan. Nikon stopped making scanners in 2004, and their old scanners are really good-some of the best on the market even in 2022. If you already own a Nikon scanner, you probably know that the software that comes with your scanner is now unsupported. But after a few years, that software stops working-and suddenly your scanner is useless. They’re fast and reliable, and they have all the features you need to get your slides and film into digital format. Make sure you’ve removed the cover from the lamp in the scanner lid. I have a scanner with a lamp in the lid – how do I scan film? First, make sure the cable from the lamp in the scanner lid is plugged into the back of the scanner.

My scans seem to be getting slower – what do you suggest? Always first use the “Fileĭefault options” command – it helps solve problems like this, since the default settings usually work just fine. The splash screen that first displays when you run VueScan either says “Standard Edition” or “Professional Edition”. Here is the breakdown of the scanners we have added: However, since sending out our last newsletter in April we have upgraded from V 9.5.08 to V 9.5.26w (released 22nd September) and we have added support for an additional 70 scanners. The main reason for this is that the manufacturer does not provide the technical information (also called an API) there is very little we can do.

There are times though when we can’t support either a specific scanner or we can’t support a scanner on all three operating systems (Windows, Mac OS X or Linux.) We continually try to increase the number of scanners we support on all operating systems. Increasing the number of supported scanners However, please feel free to contact us with requests for more changes and suggestions for improvements – we greatly appreciate these and do our best to add them.

We’ve made multi-page PDF files more flexible and have implemented multi-page JPEG files (for scanning front and back of ID cards). In particular, we have put the most common options in the INPUT tab, and made many of the options more intuitive for the common tasks that VueScan is used for. Since our last newsletter in April we have continued to implement all of your suggestions.
